Aurora is an outstanding yacht in many ways. Designed to race around the World, and around the buoy's. Her all purpose hull form is not type cast to fit a rule or a particular race. Aurora is a great all around performer that can do exceptionally well in lighter winds and shines equally well when the breeze is on. Her construction is well proven. She has sailed around the World, yet you would never know this looking at her. The current owner has adapted Aurora to a fit the dual purpose role as a casual cruising yacht with the thoughtful addition of a more private owner cabin in the bow. Aurora is an outstanding value for anyone looking for true sailing performance that will not disappoint on the race course or when taking your family for a day sail. She should be particularly well rated under the ORR rating rule used in the Newport to Bermuda Race. Consider Aurora if you are looking to do the 2020 race and don't have a boat yet.

As noted in an article from Sailing Anarchy –
“AURORA, built in 1992, is a racing machine that has done Transats, Fastnets, and Bermuda Races and taken home trophies for more than two decades.” She was designed by navalarchitect Bill Tripp Jr and built by renowned Brooklin Boat Yard. The design brief wasintended for extensive ocean racing without compromise to performance. She met and exceeded that goal as proven by her extensive racing record.
The current owner has taken this a step further, without compromise to her sailing characteristics, transforming Aurora into a cruiser/racer. In 2018 she had a minor refit by the builder, during that time they added an "owners” cabin forward, a new windlass, AC/heat, new electronics. The pipe-berths amidships have been replaced with comfortable seating although she can still sleep 9.A new set of pulpits and stations have been added to the boat which are taller for added safety.
Having been built by the world-renowned Brooklin Boat Yard, which is extremely well known for their work with wood and especially for strong ocean-capable yachts, she benefits from composite construction with visible wood on the interior which makes it very quiet and good looking as well as very functional and comfortable. Her hull is cold molded, her decks are S-glass with foam core and she sports a carbon spar and rudder and is easily sailed by two people.

ACCOMMODATIONS:
Open plan interior:
Starting forward is a collision bulkhead with chain locker & sail stowage. A second (and new)collision bulkhead was added recently. Moving aft is a large sail stowage area that has been modified to have a large berth off to port. This is removable if desired. This makes this large spaceinto a great owner cabin for cruising. A small padded bench has been added to starboard. It has avery big center-line opening hatch that lets in lots of light, but also makes it easy to get sails in andout.
Immediately aft to port is an enclosed head with wash basin & hand-held shower. Tool storage &wet gear locker opposite to starboard.
Moving aft into the main salon, port forward is the galley. A large counter aft of the sinks has 2leaves that lift up to enlarge the dining area/table. There are port and starboard settees (with newfoam in 2018) in the main salon. Moving aft, opposite the companionway, port and starboard are 2seats for donning wet gear etc. with bins behind. Opposite the navigation area port and starboardare 2 upper and lower pipe berths. All the way aft are 2 additional pipe berths and a third collision bulkhead.
